CALGARY-BASED COUNTRY DUO TWOSHINE COUNTY SELECTED AS
2016 CCMA DISCOVERY PROGRAM FINALISTS
TORONTO, ON - Calgary-based country duo TwoShine County, consisting of singer-songwriters Daron Schofield and Dennis Hann, have been selected as a 2016 Canadian Country Music Association (CCMA) Discovery Program finalist. Now in its fourth year, the national initiative was developed to support Canadian country music artists as they endeavour to reach their full potential within the music industry.
"I'm so honoured and humbled to be selected for the CCMA Discovery Program this year. Seeing the development and growth that this program offers to its participating artists is incredibly inspiring," said Daron Schofield. "There is so much talent in this Canadian country family and we are blessed to be in such good company."
As finalists, TwoShine County will be flown to Toronto for Music Industry Discovery Week, April 24-29, to learn about the music business and artist development through industry-led panels, seminars, live performance and vocal training, media coaching, and will perform at an exclusive industry-only showcase. The CCMA will also pair the duo with an established Canadian country artist for a mentorship program in the summer months. Finally, during Country Music Week 2016 in London, Ont. from September 8-11, TwoShine County will perform along with the other five finalists at the Country Music Week Discovery Showcase on September 8. Following the showcase, an industry-led jury will select one winner of the 2016 CCMA Discovery Award.
"Being selected as one of the top six acts in the CCMA Discovery Program this year is unbelievably exciting," said Dennis Hann. "Watching what the CCMA offers its discovery artists, and the progress that happens as a result, is inspiring. Knowing all the artists that are considered every year, it's an honour just to be selected. I'm so grateful!"
TwoShine County burst onto the scene in 2014 with their first single "Make It With You," followed a few months later by "Whole Lotta Love." Both tracks successfully garnered enough attention to establish a loyal fan base for the pair from coast to coast. The duo had a successful 2015, which included sharing the stage with Blue Rodeo and The Sheepdogs at the famous Cowboy Stampede Tent in Calgary, two songwriter showcases at Country Music Week in Halifax, and the release of their highly anticipated EP Whole Lotta Love. This year shows no signs of slowing down for TwoShine County, as they have been working with award-winning producer Murray Pulver (Doc Walker) on a brand new single called "Love on Fire" scheduled for release May 2016, and were selected to perform at JUNOfest 2016 as part of the recent JUNO Award Weekend in Calgary.
